Blessings of Joy

Gail giving deeksha at Healing Arts Festival

Do you ever wish you could shut down that interminable commentary of your mind and just enjoy? I did and now I can. I invite you to do the same.

How? It’s called Oneness Blessing, also known as Oneness Deeksha. Oneness Deeksha is an intelligent energy that balances the activity of the two hemispheres of the brain and leads to the flowering of the heart. The transmission initiates a neurobiological change so the recipient can experience things as they really are without the interference of the mind. It is usually transferred by touch. A trained, initiated facilitator gently places his or her hands on your head for a minute or two. It can also be transferred through intent or through the eyes.

My husband Ray and I happened upon Oneness Deeksha by chance. We had followed a spiritual path for over 35 years. We had a meditation practice we enjoyed. We even taught the meditation technique for many years. If we were still suffering after all that time, at least we felt we had made progress towards spiritual awakening. Then a friend mentioned to us that he had found something new.

“What is it?” We wanted to know.

“I don’t know” was his answer.

“What does it do?” We asked.

“I’m not sure,” he replied.

We looked at least other and said, “Okay, let’s try it!”

The first time we experienced Oneness Deeksha was pleasant. We went to the event with no expectations—just a curiosity and an openness to try something new in the spiritual arena. We felt a little tingling when the facilitator placed her hands on our heads, but that was it. Then, as we were driving home about a half hour later, it became very apparent that something profound had transpired. As my husband put it, “Suddenly St. Peter opened up the pearly gates in my heart.” We both experienced intense joy, even physical bliss, while simultaneously noticing that deeply suppressed emotions were coming up and demanding attention. We later learned that our experiences were not uncommon, and were referred to as “the process.”

We started to research this phenomenon. We discovered that Oneness Deeksha originated from Oneness University in India. According to the University’s website the founders and visionaries of the movement are Sri Bhagavan and Sri Amma, a married couple whose life-long mission is to bring about and sustain a great transition in human consciousness in order to eliminate human suffering. The university itself does not “propagate any particular belief, dogma, religion, faith, or teaching. Its underlying concept is that ‘truth however profound, when it is not yours still remains untruth’.” Its goal is to create awakened individuals.

According to Sri Bhagavan, when enough individuals (about 1% of the world population), have gained that awakened status there will be a shift in human consciousness and the rest of humanity will be enjoy the same freedom from suffering.

Bhagavan also says that we cannot create this neurobiological change on our own. That’s where Oneness Deeksha comes in. Deeksha literally means blessing or benediction. It comes to us without effort. We don’t have to do anything other than be willing to receive it. It helps us release attachments of the mind and allows us to experience the fullness of our hearts. From there forgiveness and acceptance grow, along with a sense of connectedness with all things and with the Divine.

Ray and I started to regularly receive Oneness Deeksha and found that the process which had begun during our first experience continued. We recognized that each of us, in our own way, was undergoing a profound transformation. The transformation was not psychological—there for a few minutes, a few days, then gone. It became clear that it was a process which was producing permanent and even dramatic results in a relatively short amount of time. The ever-present commentary of the mind, constantly creating inner conflict with its endless judgment, was becoming quiet. We were able to see the cause of negative patterns we had lived with since childhood, and with the help of Oneness Deeksha, change those patterns. We started to release traumas that had been stored at the cellular and energetic levels. We could feel that deep emotional and even physical healing was taking place. Our own relationship started to improve. Dare I say it? We were experiencing joy!

We were so impressed that such a simple phenomenon could cause such amazing results that we decided to travel to India to undergo a 21-day process where we were prepared and initiated as Oneness Deeksha givers, able to pass the Oneness energy on to others.

We have now been offering Oneness Deeksha in San Diego for over a year. We have a weekly event at our home and frequently join other Oneness Deeksha givers for larger events. It is a great joy for us to watch others go through the same transformation we have experienced. Recently a woman named Pam who has been coming to our house regularly since we first opened our door wrote to me about her experiences:

“Just as the lights went down and the Oneness Blessing (Deeksha) was about to begin, I was struck by how relaxed I was now, in May 2007. In March 2006 I was a ball of tension and stress. The tension—physical, mental, and emotional—was so intense that I cried for two hours each day upon arising and begged God to ‘take me home.’ After receiving the Oneness Blessing for the first time the crying stopped and did not return. Now every day reveals a new experience of relaxing and waking up.”

Pam said she did not have flashy (mystical) experiences but she was happy to be walking through life shedding the tension that had been chronic—at best unpleasant and at times debilitating. She said, “The relaxation and waking up from the coma of stress has given rise to the ability to hear God chuckling (in the nicest possible way) about what a silly girl I had been, seeing him/her there but not here. ‘I am here in your most mundane thought and most annoying experiences just as fully as in the spiritual light and magic show,’ God said.” Pam added that she also enjoys the gathering of lovely people who come for the Oneness Blessing where there is “grace without gossip.”

Oneness Deeksha is available in San Diego County and throughout the United States and the world. Millions of individuals have now received this blessing and are enjoying increased happiness, peace, and joy.
