|Happy Birthday Hua Mei
Hua Mei, the world-famous giant panda cub from the San Diego Zoo, celebrates her first birthday. One year ago last August 21, her birth made history. Hua Mei is the first giant panda born in the Western hemisphere since 1990, and the first in the United States ever to survive past four days. For the first time the general population had been able to observe a baby panda 24 hours a day via the live Panda Cam on the Zoo's web site.
